Advantages over conventional construction methods
- The VST system enables unusually short construction periods. Quick and easy assembly of elements, elimination of formwork and stripping operations, plaster work and subsequent drying times, and almost complete exclusion of installation slots and recesses shorten construction times by up to 50% compared with conventional construction methods.
- This design reduces the need for construction site equipment and lowers overhead costs for the site. The required lifting gear is lighter, pump concrete with plasticizer being employed. The formwork casing offers favourable anti-freeze properties during concreting. For installation at construction sites, this saves space and energy consumption besides reducing the need for winter construction measures.
- Needless to say, this also has advantages in confined spaces in urban construction projects.
- To a great extent, the VST system incorporates elements derived from industrial production methods. In this case, a large part of the construction activities is outsourced to a factory where the prefabricated structures are turned out by production lines regardless of weather conditions. Actual construction work is limited only to assembly and pouring of the elements. At the construction site, this saves 60% of labour hours otherwise expended by weather factors, home journeys, overnight stays, initiations and, not least of all, higher accident risk.
- The benefits of modern, industrial production at a factory firstly lie in more efficient working hours due to optimized workflow, and secondly in plant capacity utilization spanning up to three shifts.
- To a large extent, the VST system also enables a handling of professional services in advance. These can be prepared already at the factory and rendered later during erection of wall and ceiling elements, prior to pouring of fluid concrete.
- The VST system largely precludes construction cleaning which would otherwise be necessary. After setting and hardening of the concrete, the props and supports are removed, and interior work can be commenced directly.
- Much smaller quantities of building waste and virtually no losses in building material through cutting and breakage significantly facilitate the disposal of such problematic substances.
- Dimensional inaccuracies very hard to avoid during conventional construction are largely precluded by the VST system.
- Dimensionally accurate prefabrication of elements automatically results in dimensionally accurate buildings. In the VST system, the elements (such as windows, doors, etc.) are prefabricated according to the dimensions specified by the plant operations schedule. This eliminates the need for raw frames for windows and doors.
- The VST system's high quality minimizes guarantee risks.
Advantages over buildings with prefabricated parts
- The low weight of the VST system's elements notably reduces transport and installation costs.
- No problems with connections for finished parts and joint design, the VST system allowing each storey to be made of a "single piece".
